Natural versus processed. The debate whether or not natural or processed is good has stretched out its hand even in the milk product section. People are starting to question whether raw milk is better than processed milk.

The debate has still been going on up to this date. People have been trying to research what are the side effects of each type of milk, which gives out the most nourishment, which is better at what age and so on and so forth. Some experts actually believed that raw milk should be processed and not be drank as it is. It is what the government says so too. This is to relieve the raw product off the bacteria and other substances a raw product naturally has. Some experts beg to differ otherwise. With the swarm of research, medical journals and anecdotal the internet gives us, we decided to round off the facts about raw milk.

Is it really better than the processed one, does it have its share of disadvantages too? Let us find out in the paragraphs to follow.

Raw Milk

Now, what does a raw milk taste like?

It does not taste like any other. Nothing beats the thick, cheesy, milky and cool taste of raw milk in your tongue. The sweetness of it does not feel superficial or artificial at all. In fact, it has its own sweetness to it that you will never guess on. It might be the fact that above all, it is milkier than any other kinds of milk.

There is a downside to the taste though. Its does not manifest when you mixed it with any product or dish. It has a different taste when you infuse it with a dessert or even a simple coffee brew. It best left alone as it is and not be mixed with any.

We checked its taste, and so far, so good. However, we also need to check its contents. Let us get to know if raw milk is indeed good for as its taste is just as equally glorious to behold.

Benefits Of Raw Milk

Milk, in general, is good for the body. It has calcium in it, which good for bone and bone development. It has vitamins in it which essential in nourishing and treating certain diseases. Raw milk or pasteurized milk both offer the same benefits. Regardless of the type of process the milk went, given that it is the system’s intention that they retain the qualities of the milk, then the benefits will stay the same.

Allergic Reactions

Studies show that raw milk makes you less susceptible to allergic reactions. At first, these are purely based on an anecdotal recording of people living in the farm who relatively has less susceptibility from allergic reactions. Then as years go by, a study about this flared up. An expert has come into a conclusion that you cannot rule out the possibility that raw milk indeed helps in making a drinker less susceptible to allergies. Backed by his findings, it naturally has bacteria and organisms that are generally friendly.

Immune System

Now, the immune system needs not to rest, it needs to always gear up for invaders and infections. This practice makes it stronger, more perceptive, and knowledgeable about how to fight certain diseases and infections. This will make the immune system more familiar with what it is battling on and the mechanisms it has, thus, letting it form a unique defense mechanism solely devoted to that type of bacteria. It provides just that. It introduces organisms that our body is capable of building a defense mechanism against them. The expert noted that it seems like this will only be possible if the subject has been immersed in this type of milk during his younger years.

Raw Milk Quality

Raw milk suppliers are very careful and knowledgeable in terms of the method and care that they apply to their animals. They are in an understanding that if they are going to commit to a raw milk product they need to be able to achieve the standard of producing it. This means the animals should always be in optimum health, no steroids, hormones, or any characteristic inducing drugs should be present all throughout the life of the raw milk source.

However, this is going to be a problem for most people living in urban cities. They are less likely to have the habit of drinking raw milk when they are young. Another thing is, a young body is less likely to survive an attack from organisms swarmed within raw milk. So, the possibility of lessened allergic reactions for people in the urban city whilst drinking milk is temporarily ruled out.

So with this premise, for normal people, living in the urban or rural type of environment, will raw milk make us sick?

Risks of Drinking Raw Milk

The truth is, that depends on the source of the raw milk and the person drinking it. With health and science, you can not really tell what will happen until it does happen.

It is a mixture of good and bad organisms. Good organisms are those organisms that generally do not do any harm at some level, it might even help improve one’s health. Bad organisms, in general, are harmless too. but when they swarm or reach a certain level where a threshold is being broken already, usually they wreak havoc to a host.

Raw milk is a mixture of those but to be fair, in terms of ratio, it has more good organisms to it than bad ones. This generally depletes the number of bad organisms and thus, preventing the occurrence of them from swarming your body and causing horrible issues.

There are rare case though in which people get pathogen strains from raw milk and gets sick from it. This is where the source and the “individual drinking it” factor plays up. When the product is not good and the source is essentially careless of his livestock, chances are the strain of pathogen in the product spikes up to its normal threshold.
